Costa Rica
Welcome to a new page in our blog and the next chapter in our ministry. Naty and I are currently working with a church in small town called Santa Ana de Nicoya, here in Guanacaste, Costa Rica (the northwest part). As most of you know, we are located in a rural part of the country, and although there is a lot of tourism here, there is still great spiritual and physical need for the locals.
The pastor we are working with is Jesús Chavarría, a veteran pastor who has a vision for church planting and holistic ministry. The church is only about 2-3 years old and most of the congregation is made up of new believers. Our job, as it is for all Christ followers, is to make disciples who live and proclaim the Good News of new life in Jesus Christ. God willing, we will accomplish this through several avenues, with your help, and always under the direction of the Holy Spirit. As the youth pastor, I’m taking a group of 10-14 teenagers through a discipleship program. I’ll also be preaching in the main service at least twice a month, as well as teaching a leadership course twice a month. Naty, God willing, will be working with the women and children. We also hope to develop some evangelistic and income generating projects for both spiritual and financial church growth, as well as for community development.
As you can see in the pictures, our building only consists of a roof for now, but thanks to some donations made in the past few weeks, we should have at least one wall up before the rainy season gets here (maybe more-if you would like to help in putting up a wall in the church, let us know!)
Would you join us in our ministry? We need your prayers for the church to grow in their relationship with the Lord and their community, so that they can make a lasting effect for the Kingdom in the area of Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
Personally, Naty and I are trying to make the transition to full time ministry, and to do that, we have been able to affiliate ourselves with The Brook Ministries (www.thebrookministries.org) who will channel our funds for us. We are praying for $1000 a month to cover both living and ministry expenses. To donate, you can mail checks in to:
The Brook Ministries
3305 S. Echo Trail
Plano, TX 75023.
Make checks payable to The Brook Ministries. You should include a note (not on the check) that indicates the contribution is for Robby and Nathalie Richard.
You can also donate electronically on their website (www.thebrookministries.org) and follow the procedures to donate. Make sure you email Steve (steve.lucas@thebrookministries.org) so that he knows your contribution is for us. There will be a small transaction fee if you donate online.
If you decide to donate, I will also need to give your e-mail address to Steve, as your contribution statements go out via e-mail. You will also receive a year-end summary in January for your taxes and all contributions will be fully tax-deductible.
I would also appreciate your prayers as I am getting my Masters in Theology at a school in the capital city, San Jose, about 4 hours away. Pray for safe journeys as well as safety for Naty at home.
